For sale: Hennessy Hammock Ultralight Backpacker Asym

Hennessy Hammock Ultralight Backpacker Asym

Has been modified with the 2QZQ zipper mod 3 and the small stuff sack installed above the head.

2QZQ Mod 3

Has been upgraded to a lighter weight suspension system including whoopie slings, lighter tree huggers (though not much) and marlin spikes.

Also has been upgraded to the lighter tarp/fly. It is obviously not the tarp in the picture. I was responsible on this trip for the group tarp so killed two birds with one stone.

30D Silnylon Rain Fly

Comes with 1/2 of the Supershelter 4 season Insulation System. I had a Doh! moment with the foam pad part and like an idiot tried to adjust it while laying on it. Which of course ripped the pad. You would have to order a replacement from Hennessy Hammock. It runs $29.99. I think I've accounted well for it in the price of the Hammock System

Comes with the snake skins for easy pack up.

A really nice system and converted me to hammock camping immediatly. Being 6'3" I was unrealistically pushing the 6 foot rating of the hammock and had to upgrade to something larger. I bought it off someone on this forum and used it for one 3 day trip. Asking $140 firm, paypal preferred.

Great Deal on 03/07/2011 20:10:43 MST Print View

Just sold my UL Backpacker Asym on Ebay for $160 shipped and all it had with it was the big tarp and snakeskins. This shouldn't last long.

Well - Not sure what to do? on 03/27/2011 16:21:45 MDT Print View

Got the hammock, set it up, and within 10 seconds of laying in it I was on the ground! Somehow the end of the hammock ripped. I only weigh 165 lbs and am right at 6 ft tall. Haven't received any PMs all week. Don't really know what to do next. I understand we all take a risk in buying used gear, but this is a real bummer!

Does anyone know Shawn? on 05/12/2011 15:21:35 MDT Print View

He hasn't contacted me in over a month. He told me he would refund me the money for the broken hammock because it was his fault during a modification he made. I was told I would get the money mid April. I haven't heard from him since. I have sent multiple emails - any help would be appreciated - Thanks - Eric

I felt bad when i read this post...

sometimes i am forgetful and hopefully this is the case with shawn...

Did you return the hammock, or was he just going to give you back the money and let you keep it?

is it something you or someone else can fix?

I'll take the grand trunk if erick does not want it :D it might be useful for a friend i am going backpacking with next weekend...

since you used paypal why not take it up with them as well.. since he is not keeping up his end of the deal i would talk to them and cause problems for him... also since you know his name and the town he lives in from his facebook page call the local PD and talk to them.. maybe a call from them will speed things up ....

Also since he is a paying member i would contact a staff member and see what they can do for you

Eric you are doing nothing wrong by posting this... if anything your helping the next person
now we know what kind of a person he is and not to buy from him ever ... just a shame it had to happen to you
but i would take the next step and start calling ppl about this .. with gas prices the way they are and job loss right now $140 is alot of money to be out on .... Te-wa that was a really cool thing to do man
and i'll also take a crack at fixing your hammock for you if it can be fixed.. you think you can post some pics of the rip .. maybe we can fix it for you
if not maybe if someone would donate some no see um (i'm all out) i would be willing to make you a bug sock for the hammock Mike sent you or maybe another member has one they can offload dirt cheap to you to get you by for now

Once again, we're exceptionally quick to start denigrating someone when we haven't yet heard from him. Will we ever learn? While it certainly doesn't look good, haven't we yet learned that things aren't always as they first appear?

I don't have a facebook account, for those who do, is he posting regularly, or can't you tell? (I don't know nuthin' 'bout birthin' no facebook.....). Could, possibly, just maybe, something have happened to him?

I'd prefer to wait for a bit more info before castigating him. Y'all are, of course, welcome to do as you please.

Eric, no worries for having made your initial post. You're, quite understandably, at your wit's end. It must be very frustrating.

I have sent him a few more emails to his website account. I'll give himself a little time to respond before I do anything else. Here are some pics of the damaged hammock for some ideas on fixing it. Thanks for all the help.

The first 2 pics are my attempt at fixing it. The second 2 pics are the other end that is going to have the same thing happen if I don't do something to keep it from ripping through the fabric.
