Ben, that was my first impression, but Doug is correct on this one. The pics on MLD show it much more like a Solomid, crossed with a Trailstar. I think it's most likely to be competition with the Solomid rather than the Hexamid.

I thought the same thing at first, but it appears to come with the solo inner which is $145 by itself so that puts the tarp portion at $150 which is in line with the solomid.

The Trailstar Solo is now also up on the MLD site.

Is it me or is the solo trailstar the same outer tarp as is used in the cricket?

Does the hexamid have a catrenary cut outer tent? Tony's photo makes it look like it has some flap in it.

The Cricket is right up my alley

Is the net tent on the new Cricket the same as the regular solo InnerNet? Looks like there may be some differences (more WP floor, momentum panels, higher bathtub) for the Cricket net tent.

Would someone comment on the performance differences between these two fabrics in a tent this size?

Will the silnylon stretch more when wet?

Will the cuben fiber be more difficult to keep taut in the wind?

Looking at that other photo I have to agree, it greatly resembles a modified solo mid. From what I understand right now about both systems, it looks like a great hybrid between a hexamid and a solomid.

@ Tim. I, too, would be very interested in people's thoughts on the differences in how this new shelter from MLD will work in cuben vs. silnylon. I am a big fan of the Trailstar, which is offered in silnylon only, and am happy to see the evolution into the Solo Trailstar/Cricket. Well done to Ron who keeps pushing the design envelope! Mike

It will be interesting to see how or if the SOLO INNERNET will fit into a standard Trailstar since there hasn't been an MLD in-house solution for this yet.

Anyone know how tall Ron is? For size comparisons in his bug nets

I am 6' 1" , 175 lbs and wear a LG or XLG T Shirt and have 12.5 - 13 feet. Hat size is XL- haha. I am also extremely handsome in the dark.
