Ron will have up on the MLD site on Monday the new MLD Cricket Solo Tent and the Trailstar Solo. Both will be initially available in silnylon with cuben versions to follow. In the sil versions the Cricket Solo Tent weighs 19 oz and the Tailstar Solo weighs 11 oz.

Cricket... cricket... cricket...
I can't wait to see what Ron has come up with. I never heard of MLD until my PCT thru hike in 2009.. now I would gladly sell a kidney to get a piece of their gear.
Sorry Matt,If you're looking to offload a kidney, you really need to put this on Gear Swap. Of course if you have some kind of new UL kidney that you're announcing GEAR is the correct place for it.Rod
Actually my Kidneys are made of Cuben Fiber...
Did you add a drainage grommet to the bottom? Without it, water can't really pass through the cuben.

The first time I saw Cuben Fiber i argued with two other hikers that I thought there was no way it was waterproof. Well Miner and Birdman managed to educate me a bit about it. I was so impressed I actually have a Cuben (Spectralite) MLD Patrol shelter on order. Yes.. I drool everyday thinking about it.Somebody at the BPL Coe event said he had Cuben listed in his online dating profile under interests! It's hilarious but true.. We have "Ounce madness". As for a drain for my cuben fiber kidneys.. I use a bite valve of a Platypus hoser.:)
"Somebody at the BPL Coe event said he had Cuben listed in his online dating profile under interests! "And how is that working out for him????
"And how is that working out for him????"As a matter of fact I have a date Sunday. So there!
In an effort to attempt to direct this thread back to the intended subject:Ron has posted a basic description (but no picture) of the Cricket on the MLD Facebook site. Also of note, in the next week or so Ron will have a few additional "New 2011" items up on the MLD site. I have been sworn to secrecy so specific details will not be forth coming (from me) at this time.

They wouldnt happen to be new packs would they? I saw some new names listed in the recent Backpacker gear review edition.
Very cool. This was taken from the MLD Facebook page:"NEW Cricket Solo Tent will be up on the site by Monday. 19oz in all silnylon. Future releases in cuben fiber should be under 16oz. Floor is a special 4,000mm highly waterproof 30d silnylon. It is a cross between a regular single or double wall LW tent and a tarp with net insert. It uses two trek poles and is a modu...lar design. It has the functional protection of a tent but retains the natural feel tarp. A super simple concept that excellently covers +90% of most peoples outdoor needs for 3 seasons."
Yeah, the Cricket sounds interesting. I'm a visual person so I can't really get an idea of what he's talking about. It will be interesting to see the pics when they're up.
The new MLD Cricket Solo Tent is now pictured on the facebook site, it looks great. additional pictures and information will be on the MLD site later today.

It does look great. I think I might get one. Can any trailstar users comment on using fixed length trekking poles for setup?
Geez thom, way to be a tease! now I don't know if I should buy my prophet now, before he gets a bunch of orders fro the new stuff or wait and see what come out next... GAAAAAAAAAAAAAA =)
Went to the website to see the new Cricket; it's too bad the company website is a second priority to Facebook. I refuse to go on Facebook and think it's a poor place for a business to do business.
there's only one picture of the cricket, Ron's doing a rain test on it and the Trailstar right now. and as in the case of businesses on face book, half a billion people would disagree with it being "poor practice"
