I've never seam sealed Cuben before. I've only ever used the GE silicone and mineral spirit mixture on silnylon tarp tents - and wonder what your recommendations would be from anyone with a Cuben tarp tent. I know it comes with a tube of McNett Seam Sealer - but that seems thick and I wonder if it will spread over the seam fully - so I'd love to know what you'd use to do it and the best approaches from your previous experiences. Thanks :-)

I don't use the GE silicone for seam sealing my cuben shelters I use Permatex flowable silicone window and glass sealer available at auto part stores or stores that have an auto parts dept. there is no mixing no drips or mess extremely easy to use.Never had a leak and I live in the wet and rainy N.W.

Does it have sewn seams or taped seams?

Taped seams don't have to be seam sealed

It looks like the seams are stitched...and since it included a tube of seam sealing I kinda guessed that it was meant to be used...unlike some of the other MLD cuben tarps which the website specifically says are taped and don't need seam sealing...But thanks for the double check..I would've felt really stupid...

I should feel stupid for asking

That's weird, because the consensus here is you should tape seams for better strength

MLD is a quality supplier so I would think they would tape

Maybe the people that advocate taping over sewing are overly conservative
