I'm considering starting my SHR from the Eastern Sierra side. And of course I'm away from maps and books.

I've hiked out of Whitney Portal, and would like to avoid it if possible. Does anyone have suggestions, photo's, accounts, accessibility... of an alternative TH either north or south of WP?
