Grey MLD Trailstar. Used handful of times, seams sealed and guylines set up. It doesn't quite fit my needs.

or... spend $60 more and support Ron Bell at Mountain Laurel Designs directly and know that it's both a brand new shelter, warranted, and of your color/material preference.

Recycled gear is good gear and the way that Ron would want it no doubt. If the buyer likes the TS, then maybe they will be encouraged to buy retail on other items.

FS: 2008 MLD superlight bivy 50$ on 01/10/2011 14:39:28 MST Print View

Eugene - that makes no sense. Why would I want to keep a piece of gear that just doesn't quite fit into my gear system? I overnighted in the TS once, at 8000 ft with freezing rain and slush that fell from the sky. We stayed warm and dry but my girlfriend found that the setup was a little finicky for her patience. If someone else can use it, great.

As for supporting Ron Bell, I've purchased several products from MLD including two 2008 superlight bivies, the TS, and an Exodus pack. All are great quality and I love fact that they are made to order in North America. What company do you think I'm going to buy my replacement for the TS from?? I'll give you a hint... it rhymes with MLD.

That reminds me - I haven't used my superlight bivy in two years, because I'm 6'3 and it doesn't fit. Any takers??

ok ok.. on 01/10/2011 15:05:35 MST Print View

Within two minutes of that post my inbox looks like it's going to be inundated with PMs. I understand that Eugene's comments were probably not directed at me, and wasn't looking to start an argument. But buying and selling used gear doesn't really affect Ron Bell because the product was purchased at full price from him, and he is going to make a sale that I wouldn't otherwise be able to afford. His stuff is bomber so I don't know how often the warranty comes into play. Maybe some buyers don't want to wait the full two months it takes to have a piece of gear custom made? Or they just want to "try something on for size" and not dish out almost 175$ (don't forget about shipping!).

Eugene - I apologize if my comments came across the wrong way.

I think Eugene was talking to Rob, who was growling at the fact he missed your sale.

And besides, if you don't have a grip of shelters you don't use, you're not a 'real' backpacker, anyway ;)

What size is the bivy, and how much!?

Superlight bivy on 01/10/2011 15:14:40 MST Print View

It was supposed to be a large but it's about an inch longer than the regular that I purchased for my girlfriend and maybe a little wider. I'm 6'3 and it was too short.

Bottom is grey silnylon, top is black momentum (I think it's momentum).

Price is 50$, plus shipping. paypal only!

Good luck getting your hands on my LT4s. I'd been using the same 17 oz Lekis since 1998, and I'm not about to go back after switching to GG this year.
