Stories about Rescues, Survival, Missing Hikers, etc? on 12/02/2010 19:14:39 MST Print View

I really enjoy reading detailed articles about hikers gone missing or surviving unexpected storms, rescues, etc. Ive read a couple lately that mapped the intended route, actual route, how ther person dealt with certain aspects of the emergency, etc and I found it real interesting. Any really good articles online or in print that you can point me to?

Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why by Laurence Gonzales on 12/02/2010 19:36:50 MST Print View

A few months ago I picked up a copy of Deep Survival. It's mixed with stories about mountain climbers, sailors, rafters, hikers, etc. that for one reason or another, either survive or don't. It's not the type of book that will teach you specific things to do or not do, but weaves together an interesting, almost philosophical take on survival. Used copies are pretty cheap on Amazon.
