"...the next day rangers put the bison down because of its extensive burns...."

...and the grizzly missed yet another opportunity for dinner.

Pretty incredible pictures. A video would have been amazing to see too.

Kind of a bummer the rangers shot it after. Yeah it likely would have died from it's wounds or another predator, but that's how nature works. Let it run it's course. Plus any Bison that can survive a scalding hot spring bath and grizzly attack is obviously quite the fighter and deserves the opportunity to try to survive.

Just my 2c.

Completely agree, Dan.

The natural instinct to fight for survival is incredible.

I'm rather amazed that the griz didn't simply outrun the bison and take it out. Bison aren't all that fast, compared to an intent griz. Maybe there was a fight in there somewhere, where the bear caught a horn, making it a little leary? We need a video of the entire event, don't we?

From what I read the Grizzly was catching the Bison on the road, but the Bison was able to outmaneuver it in the woods. That is kinda surprising....Bison don't seem that nimble in the trees but sometimes animals can be surprising.
