I have learned that I am not a "typical male", and that my slow metabolism forces me into a sleep system +10° warmer than "typical". Hence the sale of a quilt and 2 bags.

SOLD Alpinlite
SOLD Megalite
SOLD Javan Dempsey Quilt

This quilt was built by Javan Dempsey and exemplifies his superior craftsmanship. It has a Momentum shell and 900 cubic inch down lofting to about 2+", which for a "typical male" should be good to about 30°.

I'm 5'9", 175# and it was sized to my specifications: It is a little wider in the hips and legs and a little narrower at the top:

JD Quilt Dimensions
1) Dimensions

JD Quilt Closure
2) The shockcord at the top exits at the left edge, versus typically at the center.
3) I have added grosgrain loops and shockcord to control "gaposis". This has proven to be very effective.
The interior is Black. (I inserted a white sheet for the photograph.) Total weight is 17 ounces. There is no stuff sack or storage bag.
New this was $300.
Now $240, including shipping.

greg,

I am going to withdraw my offer for the alpenlight. I found an ultralight at a lesser price new.

Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

I stuffed that quilt to about 2.25" loft in-fact, which is why it hit the 17oz mark.

First quilt I made that used the variable taper, as designed with Greg.

This is way below my current prices so if you need an awesome quilt that should get any side laying cold sleeper to 30 or below, grab it.

Sorry if it didn't work out for you Greg.

Javan,
Great Quilt!
Nothing to do with the Quilt.

I just need a supplemental heater ;-)

Would the JD quilt be OK for someone 6 feet tall. I am on the look out for something a bit wider than my JRB quilt, as I am now a side sleeper, so this could be great.

Jason,
As I mentioned I'm 5'9". I am also a fetal-position side sleeper. I fit on a 65" sleep mat just fine.

I'd suggest a "regular" 6' quilt. Or more.

Javan can make it however you want it.

Edward,
If you sent money through PayPal something is amiss.

If you haven't, but still intend to, then no problem.

Thanks Greg. I am also a foetal side sleeper and fit on a 65 inch mat OK, but do stretch out sometimes, so if it was sized specifically for you I think it may be a little too short for me. I will probably get Javan to make me one in the future, but was hoping to snag a bargain :)

What's the fill weight in the quilt? on 10/26/2010 22:03:56 MDT Print View

Scott,

Unless you have a quilt of nearly (or exactly) equal dimensions to use the answer as a comparison, the question is irrelevant.

No offense, but I really don't understand why people harp on about this. Fill weight doesn't correlate in any way with warmth, except in comparing two extremely similar or equal sized items.

I fill based on target loft, calculated on a baffle by baffle basis, and weighed within 1/10th gram and automatically add a small percentage of overstuff. Much much more accurate than calculating based on a desired fill amount and diving by the number of baffles.

I'd be all over that quilt if I hadn't already blown my backbacking budget until 2012 :)

That is a steal at $240...

I have one of Javan's quilts I scored (for the same price) a month or two ago. I use it for hammock camping and it's gotten me down to 31F comfortably. I highly recommend his work!

In fact, I may be hitting him up for another one soon!

Thanks. Wine to blame. on 10/27/2010 10:44:37 MDT Print View

Sorry about the Paypal confusion. It went, but for more than the amount...... Methinks too much wine last night. Many an impulse purchase has been made that way!

Just wondering...
