Need Hiking advice for Colorado on 08/10/2006 14:02:03 MDT Print View

Help! I'm going hiking in Colorado in late Ausgust early September, trying out some prototype gear and stretching my legs. Only thing is I'm going with my brother and his climbing partner so what I need is:
A place where we can hike in, set up a base, they can rock climb, and I can day hike and bag 14eeners. Any suggestions? Anyone have any experience with the Crestone group in the Sangre de Cristos?

thanks in advance and you can reply here or to grant@gossamergear.com

What about Chicago Basin north of Durango in the Weminuche Wilderness? You can basecamp, do three 14'ers but Im not sure about where to rock climb there.

Chicago Basin is beautiful but a pain in the ass to get to.

I sent you an email with a couple pics for my vote "The Crestones".

Yeah, you have to ride the narrowgauge railroad...
