what is the most common way to position oneself under a 10 x8 tarp to offer the most protection from rain. It seems that the logical position is directly under the ridgeline and to put the head at the highest open end of the tarp, which means that the head is most likely to get sideways rain. An alternate position would put your bag/bivy up against the tarp.

I used a flat 10x8 tarp years ago, and I pitched it on an angle with the "top ridgeline" on the diagonal. With cords, I tied it with the low end of the diagonal about 8 inches off the ground, and the top end would be 3-4 feet off the ground.
