really light ls wool shirt in a lighter color? on 08/16/2010 18:01:14 MDT Print View

I would like to get something similar to a Patagonia Wool 1 in a longsleeve or a
Backpacking Light Merino UL Shirt (Long-Sleeve) in a lighter color but since it seems both are not being made right now, is there anywhere else someone can point me. Thanks.

Smartwool makes a light gray:

Backcountry.com still has some Patagonia Merino 1 long sleeve crews in Gecko Green, if the remaining sizes fit you.

I wore a short sleeve version on several trips this summer, and it's a perfect fabric...

What is the wool weight of the microweight line? As for the Merino 1 stuff, I think the poly count is a bit too high for my stink or at least when I tried some Merino 1 T's before it was.

Icebreaker Apollo Short Sleeve on 08/16/2010 18:37:09 MDT Print View

If you're willing to compromise on the long sleeves, Icebreaker has a nearly white "bone" color in the Apollo T

I have a Wool 2 at 165 so it is not to far off the Icebreaker at 150. Anything closer to a (Wool 1)108/(BPL UL)115? Thanks everybody so far though.

Hincapie Wool Base Layer on 08/16/2010 20:38:37 MDT Print View

You could try a Hincapie merino base layer:

I've never worn Hincapie clothing but remembered seeing this in a bike shop. This will be more form-fitted than something like a smartwool shirt and I have no idea whether this would stand up to backpacking, even UL.

Unfortunately Hincapie has no idea about the thickness of their wool other than it is thin. And SmartWool starts at 160g/m2

you could ask backcountry.com about the weight of the io bio option or their house brand/stoic options (if you can handle the two tone design).

I have a sleeveless ibex woolie that I like a lot. that looks to come in at 150 weight too, but comes in nice looking light rust

There is a large left in camel. It's about a 150m thickness which is considered light weight.
