1 ounce shower on 08/02/2010 15:34:29 MDT Print View

I thought it would be nice to take a shower on the trail from time to time. I came up with a shower that uses my 2+ liter platypus bags. To take a quick 1 min shower I would use no soap and one 2.5 liter bag. For a shower with soap I would use two bags in sucession, one for soaping up and one for rinsing. If Im in camp for awhile and its sunny I put the bags on a dark object and let the sun heat them. Otherwise I bring along a little extra alcohol and heat about .5 liter water on my stove for each bag.
The shower attachment and cord to hang the bag weighs around 1 oz. Since I use aqua mira drops I can use the bags for storing/carrying drinking water as well.shower attachmentplaty bag hanging on tree

David, I like it. Where did you find the shower nozzle? Are you able to stop the flow?

It looks similar to the one on the Sea to Summit Pocket Shower.

I got the plastic closeable showerhead at my local sporting goods store as well as the plastic hose / barb and clear tube. The whole attachment cost about $6.50 . The sea to summit version weighs about 5 oz and costs $25 to $30 and has a 10 liter resevoir.(nice if you want a long shower)

Well done, that would be a useful item on longer hikes. I think one will find its way into my kit.

What you might want is a black container that you can hang in the sun for a couple of hours to have a nice _warm_ shower! I've done that in the past, but these days I am more into sponge baths.
