is there a lightweight weather radio out there? I saw the eton scorpion, it seemed useful but huge....any ideas? There always seems to be thunderstorms in the white mountains, NH and am thinking of the luxury of a weather radio.

The Sangean Dt-200x is supposed to be fantastic and weighs 3 point something oz and around fifty bucks if I remember correctly. I don't own one but I camped with someone who had one and it got great reception in rural areas. AM/FM and not just weather too.Photo next to a Bic lighter:http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=41749&c=

The Eton Scorpion weighs 8.5 oz...but it's a multi-use item, since it is a flashlight, radio and USB charger. You can sometimes justify the extra weight for mult-use functionality. http://www.amazon.com/SCORPION-NSP100OR-Multi-Purpose-Powered-Digital/dp/B003BYRKIW
I have one of these. It's actually a pretty good concept except the battery is TERRIBLE. It does have a bottle opener that is very good for those pesky Corona tabs however.Ryan
