The Ebira Rod Quiver by TrailLite Designs (for Tenkara Rods) on 07/18/2010 16:09:36 MDT Print View

The Ebira is an ultralight fishing system for Tenkara fly rods. The "quiver" holds your tenkara rod on your back while a side pocket that can be accessed without taking off the Ebira allows you to carry your fly box, tippet, and other tackle. Here's a quick video overview. More videos to follow:

Hi Andy,
I'm glad you got it so fast. PLEASE post pics and let us know how you like it. I'm taking my Ebira and Iwana out this weekend for some much overdue Tenkara time.

Hi Jason,

Will the larger size Ebira work good with the smaller Hane rod? Or would it be difficult to deploy?

I've got both the Hane and Ayu rods, and it would be nice to get just one Ebira. Or alternatively, since it's modular, will you be selling the component parts separately?

Thanks!

Thanks for posting and sharing the video Jason. This is an exciting addition for Tenkara users, especially UL backpacking Tenkara rod users. The stock Tenkara USA tube and sleeve is nice for storing but not the most ideal for throwing into a pack for trips. I think the beauty to be had in the Ebira is the simplicity, hopefully this design compliments the simplicity of Tenkara fishing. From your video it sure looks quite intuitive. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one and getting out in the next couple weeks.

Ebira Size on 07/22/2010 07:17:33 MDT Print View

Hi Daniel,
For optimal performance in the field the Ebira should be selected that is designed for the specific rod used, the 22.5" Ebira for tenkara rods and 18.5" Ebira for the BPL Hane rod.

Having said this it is passable to use one Ebira for both the tenkara rods and the Hane. If using the Hane with the longer 22.5" Ebira extraction will require more effort (and time), if using a longer tenkara rod with the 18.5" Hane specific Ebira the rod tip will protrude past the sleeve closure by a few inches.

Neither is ideal but with either scenario the Ebira will function for the intended purpose, that of a rod quiver.

Thanks Jason.

One further question: Since the Ebira is a modular design (quiver/pouch) is there any plan to sell the components separately? I suspect there might be many individuals who have both size tenkara rods and would need two quivers but only one pouch.

Thanks!

Daniel,
Offering Ebira components separately may be considered in the near future. My focus currently is working to anticipate and meet early production demands.

Well I didn't get to go out this past weekend but only made it out in a boat and went for some panfish with my father. My initial review is an A. I will have an in depth review this time next week.

Will do... thanks!

I suspect however that the biggest obstacle I will face in learning to catch fish Tenkara-style is going to be whole business of re-painting my condo, selling it, and moving.
