Brenden is conducting a study ay Loma Linda VA Hospital in So Cal on preconditioning for high altitude performance. You will need to be at his facility once a day for four days and then be driven to the 11,300' White Mtn trailhead east of the Sierra Nevada and hike/run to the 14,252' summit as a day trip. It sounds like a baseline trip involves only a day trip to the Mtn and the second session requires the 4 daily visits before ascending the mtn again. If interested, contact Brenden to clarify details. More info below.

Subject: RE: White Mtn Exercise Study Participant
Thanks for your interest. I pasted an excerpt with info on the study below.
We are conducting a study that is looking at the effect of a novel pretreatment on exercise performance at altitude. We are recruiting runners/hikers to complete a 7.5 mile course to the peak of White Mountain (14,252ft). The study would be done over two long day trips up to the mountain, with transportation provided. The preconditioning treatment uses a blood pressure cuff to stop blood flow to your leg intermittently for 40 minutes, and is done at the Loma Linda VA Hospital once per day for the four days before each trip. The dates for the trips are either July 31st or Aug 20 for the first trip and Sept 11 or 12 for the second trip. You would need to go twice because each participant is being compared to themselves, treatment versus no treatment. We will be assessing the participants by course time, drawing blood, taking an echo, and having you fill out a few handouts. If you are interested we can set a time for you to come in to discuss further details, sign consent forms and get baseline data with a Vo2 max test. We are looking for a total of twenty people, so any recommendations you have would be appreciated. Feel free to pass around my contact information to anyone you choose.
We are borrowing the Vo2 max setup from pulmonary department, so we are restricted to after 4pm when they are done with it. Let me know what day works best for you. Maybe early next week? So far it has been taking about an hour and half to get everything done. Then it'll just be a waiting game for the treatments and day trips.
Feel free to contact me whenever.
