I took the boy and his friend for a overnight trip to the Mokelumne Wilderness off HWY 88 near Carson Pass. Its about a 7 mile out and back adventure. We had mild temps both day and night. It was windy at times but overall it was perfect backpacking weather. About 40% of the trail was still covered in snow which added even more adventure for the young hikers. Mosquitoes were only a problem at the TH. There is still a lot snow up the Sierras which adds even more spice to any backpacking trip.
