MLD cuben dry sack on 06/20/2010 11:59:33 MDT Print View

I am about to buy a cuben dry sack from MLD in size x-large. I want to possibly use this as a replacement for an inflatable pillow and padding in a camp seat.

I currently use a big Agnes inflatable pillow coupled with an arrowhead equipment bear pillow. This all fits inside the pillow pocket on my ba bags. I do this for extra height on the pillow since I sleep on my side. I also use this pillow as additional padding in my thermarest compack chair on top of some ccf foam. Would the mld cuben dry sack be able to replace the pillow for these functions?

The rolltop closure of the drysack may be watertight but it is not airtight. It will not stay inflated. Also, even if it were possible to make it hold air it would not be brick-shaped like the BA pillow, which is chambered. It would try to become a sphere. Try inflating and rolling down the top of a plastic bag of a similar size and using it as a pillow before you invest in the MLD cuben version.

I thought about that after I posted. The ba pillow is good at not letting my head roll around since it is chambered. I still need a dry sack so I still want to purchase. Just thought I might be able to make it multi-use :)
