Jelly bellys that are fortified like a sports drink. Found it in Bicycling Mag. See
Has anyone tried these?

I don't know, but some of the pro cyclists in the Tour of California have "Sportbeans" written across their butts. I thought they probably provided a gas-turbine thrust effect.

I have tried them, used during long runs. They have a better texture (granular/sugary like a jelly bean) and are a little less likely to stick to your teeth like some of the other chewable energy products (like Clif Bloks, etc).

I don't know if the potassium/sodium/whatever in them are helpful, or if it is just the sugar (much higher than Clif Bloks). Great for a long run, ok if you are bonking on a ride, but probably not that helpful for hiking anything other than a dayhike.

They may have changed the formula or packaging. I've used them in the past, and love them.

Funk nasty freak beans. on 05/20/2010 20:34:11 MDT Print View

Funk nasty freak beans would be a more accurate name for these things. I had a run in with them back in 2007 and lived to tell. Some folks really like them I guess. I tend to avoid most of the designer trail foods though.
