Looking for a pot on 05/15/2010 13:16:01 MDT Print View

Is there a shallow titanium pot (1000ml-1500ml) with a bent lip for pouring? I am looking for something like the MSR titan kettle, but a larger capacity and at least 5.5 inches in length.

The evernew 1.3L is the right size, the right size, but the spout looks too small. How well does this one pour?

My (MSR) Ti 1.5 L pot has no pouring spout at all, but it pours quite well. Do you really need a spout?

The GSI Tea Kettle is really great. I'd sell mine since I really don't use it, but my girlfriend would slap me something silly. (she loves that thing)

I probably don't need a spout, but this is what I am thinking:

I want to have an ULC ti-tri for a shallow pot, and the height of the ULC will be diameter of the pot, as I will just roll it up and put it in. Since there needs to be a 3 inch clearance from ground to pot, the diameter of the pot has to be at least 3 inches longer than its height. I think a pot with a diameter of 6.5 inches and height of 3 inches would almost be a 1.5L pot, and have 3.5 inches of clearance if the pot was set like the normal ti-tri(alcohol mode). Since the pot is obviously round, the ti-tri would have to be shorter, giving a clearance of around 3.2-3.4 inches, which is exactly what my current ti-tri for SP900 has.

----

There are two reasons I want a spout and a lid with holes:

1. so I can steep loose teas then strain them into my bottle.

2. so I can scoop up dirty water and strain it into my bladders. I know this won't be very efficient, but I rarely have to do it.

All of the holed lids I've seen have a very wide pour, which won't fit into a bladder, so I was looking for a spout. I suppose either way will work as long as I can get a narrow pour.
