Big Agnes Horse Theif: Long or Short? on 05/09/2010 22:12:57 MDT Print View

I'm thinking of getting one of these, they seem like a pretty good deal for a lightweight blanket style bag, but i'm not sure if I should go with the long or regular size. I'm 6'0", the regular says its for people up to 5'10", and the long up to 6'6".
I'd rather not have an extra 4" of bag kicking around... Can anyone comment?

Thanks!

Nice bag. I used it for part of one season until my son begged it away. The longer bag is going to assure you enough length to get deeply entombed in cool weather. You might lose a tad of that with the shorter length at 6 feet. But if this is not a winter use bag for you that might not be a big deal. Depending on your body dimensions the long is also going to give you an extra 5" or so of girth at shoulders and hips. My favorite thing about this bag is that it compresses to an incredibly compact size if you need to do that.

Great bag on 05/11/2010 09:29:40 MDT Print View

I just picked up a regular length bag to replace my Mont-Bell #2. I have had the bag into the mid 30's and it was plenty warm. just use an insulated pad. i used to think I was a cold sleeper and that BA bags were liberally rated, but once I started using the proper pad i have had no problems.

The reason for the switch from a $325 elite bag? Comfort! nothing is more comfortable than my Big Agnes bags (never tried a hammock), especially since i am a side and stomach sleeper.

I sent you a PM on where the long can be had for cheap, new.
