double wall tent on 04/21/2010 01:13:07 MDT Print View

hello everybody

it's time to replace my marmot swallow because somebody destroyed it.Instead of
the weight i was very pleased with it.Now
i'm looking for a similar but much more lighter tent.I want to use it from nepal 4500m to the mediteranian greek island beaches in summer around 35C.The swallow performed good in all this.but now i find a lot of difficulties to choose a tent.
the new nemo losi storm is the one that i like but i'm not sure about the summer use.Any suggestions?please

Double Wall Tent? on 04/21/2010 10:29:26 MDT Print View

I guess not a lot of double wall tent users on this list?
You may want to look at Tarptent. He has some light double wall tents.

I have owned the MSR Hubba Hubba and returned it. The floor leaked and the poles bent. I switched to Nemo tents and never looked back.

I'm a huge fan of Nemo I would say you can't go wrong with the Espri 2P. It is almost the same size only weighs 1.6kg the Losi Storm is 2.2kg.

If the weight doesn't bother you and you want a tent that is more fall/winter oriented get the Morpho 2P. It's one of those "wow" experiences. I think it is the coolest tent out there. It just weighs a bit much. But you can sleep 3 people in it. (very close together)

That's bizzare. Did you contact MSR for warranty work or replacement?

I once used a Hubba that ended up 'floating' on water. No leaks.

Personally I think the Hubba series (including the HP) are excellent choices, albeit not UL.

David, I took it back to REI, the next year they changed the floor material - go figure ;)

I loved that tent in tems of setup and the two doors. I think it took less than 45 seconds to set it up.

Check out either Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 2 -- or the lighter Fly Creek UL 2.

Look at TarpTent's new double wall tents. Fairly light, excellent quality and reasonable prices.

Terra Nova Laser Photon Elite/competition is expensive, but light.

Hilleberg Akto.

REI's Dome T1.

The Nemo tents, maybe someone mentioned those.

Nemo Morpho has two doors.

Try the MSR Hubba Hubba

Maybe the OP is having difficulty with his internet connection. Greece can be a bit patchy telcoms-wise.
