How does one include an active link when posting a reply or creating a new thread.

I usually copy and paste the address in the thread from the website that I want the readers to be able to navigate to but the readers must copy and paste the posted address into their browser's address bar.

How does one add an "active", different colored and highlighted, link that the readers can if they choose to simply click on and be taken to the particular site that the link refers to?

Greg,

You should consider editing that example to explain about the need for tinyurl at times. At least one of the examples lower down in the thread looks as if it fails because of not doing that.
