I tend to suffer from plantar fasciitis and have experimented with a variety of different insoles for relief from the heel pain. I recently purchased a pair of New Balance IPR-3030 insoles and, for me, they provide more relief than any other insole I have tried. I won't claim that they will help everyone but they did work for me.

They don't provide the pronounced arch support as do a lot of other proprietary insoles. For me that is good since I have a fairly normal arch and want to keep it strong if possible. But they have a layer of "memory" foam on the top that really helps to distribute walking and jogging impact over much more of your foot than is the case with the harder insoles.

As I noted above, these may not be the ticket for everyone but they sure worked for me. If you are having chronic heel pain, as I did, they might be worth looking at. Google the "part number" above for online sources. You can get a pair for about $35.00. I have been using them now for about a month and for several hundred miles and they are still in good shape.

Charles,
I too recently bought a pair of these insoles. At first I did not think I was going to like them because they seemed to reduce the volume of my NB 812's, making them seem slightly smaller. But I left them in, and after about two weeks' of daily wear, they sufficiently molded to my feet that I now like them. I too have a normal arch and have tried a handful of other brands, including SuperFeet, without success.

Even though I love New Balance trail runners because they do not require any breaking in period for me and do not cause me blisters, after a couple of hundred miles they begin to feel a bit "flat", losing some of their cushioning. I am hoping these insoles will help them feel supportive and comfortable a lot longer.

I suffered from my feet going numb while hiking as well as sore legs and a tight back for years as i work standing on reinforced concrete. A few years ago i heard about these insoles that basically stop or prevent most of the reverberating energy as one steps down to walk as well as the natural vibration while standing on a concrete floor. Last year i finnaly used them and what a differnce i experienced. Not a SINGLE day of pain in my back or sore legs now and my feet don't go numb anymore. I now can actually run down rocky trails with no discomfort as well. They were actually made originaly for the military and the company uses the technology to make aircraft seats and even helmet liners to protect from exposions and has even been used in drag race cars.
I am not a paid spokesman but i have told people repeated times about these but naturally most don't believe me? You can do a simple test at home by finding a solid suface like a hard wooden table and first try and drop a large ballbearing about two feet above. If the ball lands and doesn't bounce up then you have a good non rebounding surfave to work off. then remove various insoles out of your shoes and repeat the drop on the insoles and watch how high the ball rebounds up. That rebound is the energy being absobed and then rerelased back into your feet, legs, and back with EVERY step!
the website might have a better way of explaining this and another thing i like about them is that they have NO memory so there is no breakin and i can use the same pair of insoles in several pairs of shoes thereby saving me money!! And oh ya, there is a 100% money back policy if they don't work to your liking, cool don't you think? And yes they are 100% made in the good old USA! Now how can you beat that?
Oh yes here is the website link http://www.insoleutions.com/shockblockers.php
And if your located in or close to Portland Oregon there is the local distributor located at Summit Safety Shoes at
http://www.summitsafetyshoe.com/ The street addresse is 2350 NW St. Helens Rd
Portland, OR 97210
Ask for a Eric Lanier as he is the one to ask about these. Unfortunatley this isn't the main money maker for the parent company as the aircraft seats sell for a bit more coin. As such they don't go out and advertise these much. I may actually be buying a pair of these for a older gentalman i work with that is always in pain because of his feet and back.
(sorry for the spelling guys i am half asleep)
I would really like someone else that is a reputable, well known and experienced hiker to test these to get the word out as i know there are many hikers that have given up because of sore feet and backs.

Forgot to also mention they are made to work over a orthopedic or prosthetic support device as well.
