Lineloc slippage anyone? on 04/05/2010 08:28:09 MDT Print View

I have an MLD cuben tarp with the integrated Linelocs at each tieout. I love this system and it really simplifies things for me. But I took it out last weekend and had the very frustrating experience of the Linelocs constantly slipping and losing my taut pitch. Anybody experience this, and what did you do to solve it? I must be doing something wrong - either my line has too narrow a diameter, or I'm not threading it correctly through the Linelocs are my guesses. Thanks.

I had the same experience with my linelocs. I was trying to use the BPL Aircore 2, but it was constantly slipping through even though I knew I had it threaded correctly. I ended up getting the BPL Aircore NANO with the micro-tensioners and they work great! Easy to use and adjust, and I have had no slippage yet. I suppose that some people prefer the linelocs because they are closer to their tarp, but I find these easy enough.

Not with cord that is 2.5 to 3 mm in diameter, but with anything smaller, yes, wet or dry.

If you are into Nanos, you can install them at the tarp by threading the Nano loop through the tarp web before knotting off on the Nano body, and then putting a permanent loop on the stake end.

Linelocs need 3mm line on 04/05/2010 10:28:31 MDT Print View

Thanks guys for the inputs. I checked the MLD site and they do seem to recommend 3mm line for use with their integrated Linelocs, but you have to dig around for it. I was using 1.5mm, so no surprise that I was slipping all over the place. I wish I would have read up on that first and saved myself some frustration. Good idea on switching to the mini linelocs, but I sure like the convenience of those integrated ones and think I'll stick with them for now.

I’ve been looking at putting the Air Core Pro UrsaLite Line in the MLD line locks. That line is 2.2mm. Any thoughts?

Justin,

I believe that line is very smooth for bear-bagging. Probably not the best line for the linelocs to get a grip on. But if you have some already, go ahead and try it and report back! I just wouldn't buy some specifically for that purpose.

I think it must depend on the line. I use 2mm Dyneema on my Duomid without any problems.

This is the stuff i use.
