John,
Does 'Brand New' mean it has the Ti dove-tail?

Greg, "Brand new" in this case means that it has never been used. I purchased the system from AGG in late 2008. Ti dove-tail??

John,
In the early models the "dovetails" on the cone were molded into the aluminum. Later ones have a titanium dovetail riveted to the inside of the aluminum to facilitate easier assembly.

I think the 2008 models were earlier enough to be straight aluminum.

Trail Designs does offer a inexpensive (maybe free?) upgrade to the old style cones.

I ask because I have a 1.3L Cone and might be interested if it is the Ti version.

Edit: added the bit about the riveted Ti

Greg,

Thanks for the update. The cone system that I have for sale has the straight aluminum "dovetails".

Dovetail on 04/03/2010 17:25:13 MDT Print View

Note.....we have not migrated to the titanium re-enforced dovetail on all the cones. We only did that on the ones that had very short dovetails that needed re-enforcement, the now EOL'd aluminum ULC line, and all the Ti-Tri models. The standard Caldera for the EV1.3 was not one that got that upgrade. Might do it across the board in the future (it's been in discussion), but it hasn't been decided yet.
