I have a first gen montbell bag that does not hae a lockibg zipper. I would like to have a zipper that lock to prevent zipper creep.
Can a locking slider be swapped, or does the whole zipper assembly need to be replaced?

Just a new slider is needed. What I don't know is if locking sliders come in "two-sided" versions.

If they are only one-sided, operation from the inside will require some contortions to get the job done.

Thanks for the insight. I will see what I can work out. I do have a couple of spare WM zippers for my other bags, so I can use one if needed.
