Maybe you already know this. But just in case:
If you get the REI Visa card and use that for your REI purchases, you will earn an additional 5% in your dividend. And that additional 5% even goes on sale and clearance items, even on garage sale items. All this is because the in-house card (through US Bank) saves the coop a lot on bank fees, so that is returned to the member by way of the extra dividend.
Normally REI gives you a $20 gift card for getting the REI Visa card. Right now there is a promotion going on, and you get a $40 gift card. Plus, if you get the little referral form from your favorite REI employee, and submit your application with their employee code, REI will give them $40 too.
They will also put in your dividend 1% of any non-REI use you make of the card.
No annual fees. I have no idea what the interest rate is--I don't pay credit card interest.
And yes, I work part time at REI. Since employees get discounts that are always better than the standard dividend, the REI Visa is the only way we get a dividend at all.
