Wilderness Equipment Tectite tent on 03/24/2010 05:15:29 MDT Print View

I am looking at the Wilderness Equipment Tectite tent (4 person) for a light weight roomy 3 person tent. I would appreciate hearing your experiences with this tent or any thoughts looking at the design - quite unique with the mesh perimeter.
Thanks heaps
Shon

2.72kg (6lb) 4 person tent, Tectite by Wilderness Equipment - experience/thoughts? on 03/24/2010 15:56:51 MDT Print View

Hi all,

Was really hoping to get some feedback, particularly from any Aussies, on this particular tent or other Wilderness Equipment tents.

Cheers
Shon

Shontelle
That seems to be a brand new series of tents from WE, so not surprising that you have no response.
If you forgive my biased view... this is what I see.
For a 3-4 person tent , at a probable trail weigh of around 2.5kg* it is pretty light for Australian standards.
Should be pretty fast and easy to erect.
However the single hoop without end support is not that space efficient.
If you look at the Tarptent Hogback (in comparison) you will see that this has a smaller footprint, two (smallish but good enough for a pack each) vestibules and more usable interior space. All for 500g or so less.
But I do not know the cost of the WE, so that could be an important point.
* Several years ago (well before I put my Tarptent blinkers on) I was interested in the WE Dart. Then I found out that the real weight and the advertised weight had a 500g discrepancy..
I sent an E Mail to WE, got some nonsense back, they still advertised that pretend low weight for almost a year after it.
