Tarptent Moment's best suprise! on 03/04/2010 20:27:02 MST Print View

I just received my much anticipated TT Moment, set it up as quickly as possible (fastest new rig set up ever) and was blown away by the room. for the past year I have been floating between a Gatewood cape, Mld Duo-Mid and Z-tarp hexamid. Got the Moment for my wife who is a groundo-bugo-phobe! I'm 5-9 160lb she is 5-5 120 we share a ray way quilt and with two medium neo-airs there is plenty of room for both of us and our packs in the vestibule.

Big Kudos to Henry and the Tarptent team.

Wow, that's a big vestibule!

Seriously though, you can fit two in a Moment? You don't have any pictures by chance?

Travis

Remember we're married, I gave our specs, but yes, we fit easily and there is still room at the head and tail for kit... I'm heading out soon for my b-day and pics will follow ;0)

Cheers

Travis:

Methinks you should seize the Moment -- and get one!

Ben, you're an evil man.

Actually, if I were to get a solo shelter, I'd seriously consider the Sublite Sil with vestibule. People have said both shelters are pretty sturdy. I wonder which would be more functional for the weight.

For me, between the two, I would opt for the Moment.

Pics please! I have no idea how you get 2 NeoAirs in the Moment side by side unless you are leaving the inner open and laying partially in the vestibule.

Ryan

No miss read, its about inflation, bathtub floors, and quilts. I was just outside playing with my two daughters, 8 and 2 1/2 and we all fit.

It reminds me of the Sherry bottle from "The Bishops Wife"... how is that for a random review.

I am loving this thing.

I haven't seen the pics either, but the 'medium' Neo's aren't full length pads -- so probably doable.

Here is Henry's cutaway pic with a 20" wide regular pad. Still confused on how you are doing this:moment

This response is dedicated to those of us who graduated high school in the 70's and still remember how to make magic happen in the back seat of a 75 Pinto.

Its not perfect but its great. The neat thing about the air mattress is you get to choose how much air you use and where they need to fit ;0). It might not look great on a skematic but I promise you it works in practice and within a week I'll have censured pics promise ;0)

I might also mention that I've spent the past few month living happily under a 4.5 0z Hexamid so this really does seam huge! I guess everything is relative ;0)

even if they're not full length...it seems like a tight fit:

but doable. Especially if they're married :)

Ah! Those were the days my friend. And magic it was! Only for me it was a 69 Mustang. If I'm ever lucky enough to come across you on the trail I've got a GREAT story about trying to make magic happen in that Mustang when, quite suddenly, all went awry.....

Douglas, Douglas.....you can't end a post with "I've got a GREAT story about trying to make magic happen in that Mustang when, quite suddenly, all went awry....." and think that we won't pester you until world's end to find out what happened!!

Good on you Bill. Sounds nice and snug.

I've got a Moment as well. It's a fine shelter, no doubt about it. You're spot on with your comment on how easy and fast it is to pitch. It's a dream to set up.

However, for me it's strictly a solo shelter. I even have trouble fitting me AND my pack inside at the same time. I just bring in the essentials (food bag, clothes/electonics bag, etc)and leave the rest outside in the vestibule.
