Anyone have one and care to share some tips on how the bottom sides should look / what the front corner straps are supposed to do etc? I just got mine and just not sure how rainproof it looks as I set it up presently.

I don't know for sure but I take the little loops of stretchy stuff and hook it under the tip of the pole to hold the front corner down. I only do this in bad whether, otherwise they're up...

As for the inside, with all of the straps and such... Man, I just play with them as needed- trying different things.

I've definitely had that thing battened down, so it can be done.

The ones that get me are the clips halfway down the sides. In nice whether I clip them up and then use the ol stick method to bring as much of the mesh vertical-ish to let in air. It starts raining hard and I unclip the clips and tighten the line.

Man- just mess with it- it'll make sense.

Do you know what the plastic hooks on the front are for, where the front guylines are attached on the black circles? That's the one thing I haven't figured out yet.

Those are line tighteners. We opted to tie the cording to the loops just underneath rather than feed it through the tighteners out of fear that first time users would pull too much cording though the tighteners and shorten the "v" lines too much for proper pitch. If you want to use the tighteners, just be sure to let all the cord out before pitching. Then pull a little through the tighteners as necessary for fine tuning.

Am I ever glad I read this thread; I've been puzzling over the "extra" hardware for a year.

Yes, a slow learner am I.

Cheers,

Rick

Henry, are those hooks on all models? I read that post but it didn't ring a bell, so I didn't comment. I don't think I have those hooks- just line tensioners. Haven't seen my tent lately:( maybe I just forget...

Jeff, I think the "hooks" are actually line tighteners. At each of the two top circular reinforced pullouts there is a line tightener and pullout loop.

Ahh.

Man, I love those little things- retensioning the canopy is as easy as 1.

2, and 3 are not necessary
