I'm in the market for an ultralight/ lightweight solo shelter. There are so many more on the market now than there used to, but I have a "problem". At 6'3" I don't fit in many of the shelters. Does anyone know/ have experience with the MLD Solomid in particular when it comes to this issue? Any other shelter recommendations? Thanks.

William, the Tarptent Sublite and the Contrail are two that posters here have praised for the ability to accommodate folks of your height.

I'm 6'3" and have no issues in any of the tarptent models. Currently we own a Contrail and Rainshadow 2. If I remember correct, all of the Tarptent models have 78 inch length floors that can be expanded to 84 inches.

+1 on Tarptent lengths. And I'm 6'7", no problems in a Contrail. I also fit pretty well in a BA Seedhouse 1.
I do, however, sleep on my side and curled up a wee bit.

Another option is the MLD Duomid. It only weighs an extra ounce over the Solomid and should be big enough for you. This would also be a lighter option than a Tarptent.

I'm a hair shy of 6'3". I currently use a Duomid and a Tarptent Cloudburst 2 and both have plenty of length for me. I think the Solomid will work for you as well.

FYI - The SoloMid is the same length as the DuoMid, but because you can easily angle two poles at each side (without extenders required with the DuoMid) there is more room for those going Solo. There is more than a 1 oz difference in weight when you consider that the shelter alone weighs 2.3oz more - then add additional seamsealing and the required pole extender and the difference is about 6oz in weight.

One other thing - although the Contrail is long enough for me (with a 'long' bag), the foot end is tight and in strom mode with a 2.5" pad my sleeping bag was pushing on the top of the canopy. For someone your height I would look at the Rainbow. No experience with the Sublite, but the Silnylon version of the Sublite has not been available for months (and months). YMMV.

...and not available for another month or so but then it's coming back with some nice improvements including a gear vestibule and 3" bump to peak headroom.

Perfect - I believe the overall design to be better than the Contrail, given the two pole set-up and side entry. All it lacked for me was some gear storage. Looks like V.2 will find a place somewhere in my vast gear storage.

What kind of weight are we talking about Henry?

Heavier than the prior Sublite Sil but lighter than the Contrail. I'll know more in a few days when I get the pre-production sample.

I keep hiding things under the bed. So far so good.....I think I might be in trouble when spring cleaning comes around though.
