Hi everybody, i am posting this list to get some feedback from the forum to see if anyone thinks i am missing something as far as clothing goes.
Temps encountered will be: Lowest - 20 highest -40
Mix of freezing rain and possible snowfall in the range of 1-2 inches at most.
Distance: 40-50 miles, haven't decided which loop I will take yet.
Legs/Feet: Suplex Nylon Pants Icebreaker Merino 150 bottoms Icebreaker Merino 200 bottoms Dri ducks ultralight trail pants (waterproof+windproof)
Smart wool Adrenaline x2 Smart wool heavy hiking sock x2 Inov-8 Roclite 390 Goretex Integral designs event gaiters 1 X-static liner 1 Cool-max liner
Torso/head/hands: Smart-Wool heavy weight wool lonsleeve Icebreaker merino 150 sleeveless shirt Mont-bell Thermawrap jacket Driducks Ultralight trail jacket w/ hood (waterproof+windproof)
Balaclava w/ insulated beanie Nike mesh hat to keep rain out of face (driducks hood = bad)
Nike ACR Poleyster/Elastine gloves Gore-tex mits
The combination of thermawrap + smart wool long sleeve + icebreaker short sleeve should take me down to the 30's, from there I think the driducks suit (being another windproof layer) should add 5-10 degrees to the torso, taking me down to the 20's. I also have a 2 JRB no snivelers (one tq one uq for my hammock). I can use one of these as top insulation if i HAVE to. Basically i want to avoid bringing my 30oz north face denali fleece jacket at all costs, as its a heavy burden. I do have a medium weight north face flight series polypro/elastine long sleeve pullover as well, but i am debating whether it is realy needed.
Suggestions?
