where did you get all these bags? on 12/05/2009 00:06:07 MST Print View

Do you work at the factory and sneak them out in your lunch box like Johnny Cash?

Looks like someone is buying and reselling to take advantage of the moosejaw deal

You are all all correct. I recently bought them with MooseJaw's deal. As you know WM bags never really go on sale, but I bought them with Moosejaw's extra reward points on Monday.

I tried to set the prices so it would split the discount I earned and hopefully be a win win for all. Hopefully, others see it that way. If not, let me know.

Techinally if you were to buy a summerlite at $315 and get 5x points back on it, you'd be receiving $157.50 in cash back to moosejaw. Now if you were splitting the bargin between you and someone else, each person would save half of that $157.50. Therefore, each party would save $78.75. If each member saved $78.75 each person should be paying $236.25 per bag. You have them priced at $265-$275. With that considered, its not exactly "splitting the discount that you earned."

If we were to look at the Ultralight ones that you have for $335....if you were "splitting the discount that you earned" they would cost $288.75 each.

As far as the $345 one is concerned, if you were "splitting the discount that you earned" it would cost $300.

Just thought I share the details in case you failed to realize that you made an error in your math, since after all, you did ask people to "let you know" if others did not see it this way. The way I see it is that your making a nice ~$40-$50 profit on each one :P

I am not saying it is right or wrong, but he just said he was splitting the difference, he didn't say he was splitting it 50/50.

Good prices, if you need one at a fair price, buy one...if you don't, there are thousands of other posts to read.

"The way I see it is that your making a nice ~$40-$50 profit on each one"

I see no problem with this at all. That is how our economy operates. WM makes a profit on each one. Moosejaw must be making a profit or they wouldn't sell them.

If he's selling them at a good price, people will buy them. It is a win-win. People save a bit of money, he makes a bit of money. There is absolutely nothing ethically (or in any other way) wrong with what he's doing in my book.

People have no problem paying the profits of companies, but they seem to get their panties in a twist if a forum member has the audacity to follow the standard economic model. Perhaps simply angry that they didn't think of it first.

Someone has a habit of sticking their nose in where it is not wanted nor appreciated. Don't you.

I don't blame him for doing what he is doing. All I am saying is that if your are going to sell them for an extra $50 don't undermine the forum members by going out of your way to pretend like you are just splitting the deal. Be straightforward or don't even make that extra comment. I would have simply not have made the extra comment.

Regardless, I do not even know if he made a math error when he came up with the prices for each of these bags, so I even gave him the benefit over the doubt on what he was selling them for.

I did not use any names, but thanks for ratting yourself out. Done here before Dave wants us to move to chaff, rightfully so. Good Day. Update...Timothy, Let's not forget who was rude first. The OP never said he split it 50/50. Why shouldn't he be able to make some profit. First rule in business, buy for less, sell for more. Your best tack would have been to PM the OP with your revelation and not make an ass out of yourself in public. WOW THAT GUYS HAS QUITE THE MOUTH ON HIM. Too bad PM don't have a profanity filter. I need a shower...

summerlite on 12/05/2009 13:35:28 MST Print View

I bought a summerlite for 150 awhile back from moosejaw, and found out it was too snug, and sold it on ebay for 275. If people are willing to pay what you are asking for them then I don't see anything wrong with it. That is what stores do everyday, and plus you are still getting a great bag for a discounted price. Just my opinion though.

I think you were very rude to me Ken and Nicholas. All I was trying to do was point out something that I noticed which may or may not have been a miscalculation that could have lead to a correction that saved some members on here some money. Rather than telling you to go ... yourself or being stupid about matters, I will simply say that I did not appreciate the way that you talked to me. End of story. I am no longer touching or reading this thread any further.

Wow. This thread went downhill in a hurry. Bump for a good price on great bags. If I didn't already have one I would snag one of these babies right away. Nice score.

I added a 6' SummerLite Right zip. I also dropped the prices. Below are some links to various sales of similar bags to give you an idea that the prices are pretty competitive. Thanks for looking!
