800-fill top bag, 19 ounces, 3-inch loft on 11/22/2009 17:29:19 MST Print View

I'm selling my ultralight top bag, weighs 19 ounces with 3 inches (single layer) of 800 fill power loft. Made with Momentum 0.9 ounce Ripstop, Noseeum baffles, and 800-fill down. I made this bag about 4 years ago, and the sewing quality rivals any big name company. The bag has adjustable grossgrain straps to adjust girth to suit conditions. This would be similar to the Nunatuk Arc series bags. I'm 5'7" and 165 lbs. and this bag fits me with plenty of room. It is roughly 60 inches long inside. The bag is in excellent condition. Looking to get $280. rjayham at gmail dot com

This looks like a golite ultra 20 on steroids.

3 inches of loft should put it around the 10 degree mark.

Do you know how much down you put in it Jay?

Yeah, this is a warmer bag than Golite's 20 degree bag. I've had it down in the teens, using a hooded parka, and was toasty warm.

As to how much down...I'll have to look and see if I can find my records. I lost a hard drive a few years ago, so I'm hoping I still have the printed spreadsheet I used when stuffing the bag. The baffles are slightly overstuffed (think Western Mountaineering) to prevent down shifting. Also, I used a differential cut, meaning the liner fabric is not as wide as the outer fabric. This helps prevent down compression. When the bag is snug against you (which you want to reduce drafts and convection), the looser outer fabric won't compress the down. Whoever gets this bag is getting a very top end product.

Looked and can't find my notes on the amount of down. I did remeasure the bag's loft, and would add that it has nearly 3.5 inches of single layer loft.

Jay,

That quilt is a bit too small for me, but it looks like a great quilt, That is what the Golite Ultra 20 should be. Supurb work!

Thanks Bradford. Likely the difference between obsession and mass production- my bag verses Golite...

Sale is pending.
