golite reed pants on 11/20/2009 13:06:07 MST Print View

I have wierd request... I recently found a pair of womens golite reed pants for very cheap. They are a size large which fit 30-44in waist, and the inseam is 32". I wear mens 32x32 size pants... it seems like these would work for me, but i wanted to make sure before i got them. Are the men's and women's pants cut diffenrently, or are they about the same? Im guessing they would be pretty similar since they are just baggy fit rain pants.

HA HA HA Brian, I am not kidding you when I say this, but I was coming on here to ask the same exact question. I want a pair of Medium Men's Golite Reed pants too. Been looking for them for the past 2 months. No luck finding them anywhere! I have a pair of Medium ones on order from Amazon, but I put that in 2 months ago, and after already being told once that my order is being delayed, I have a feeling I will never get them and just have my money refunded back to me. So I have three questions to go along with Brian's question.

#1 As Brian as already asked, can we get a pair of Women's Pants or would they not fit properly?

#2 I ordered a pair of small ones today just to give them a try. Do you think they will stretch at all? I am a 32" waist size as well.

#3 Can anyone provide Brian and I with a link regarding sizing information. I went to Golite.com and it stated that a large pair of pants in womens is 32-35". Brian seems to believe they are 30-44", who is correct? It would be good to know the right information before placing anymore orders. On a side note it stated that a Men's pair of pants in small were 28-31" and Medium were 32-35". If anyone could fill us in we'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks guys.

P.S. How do these pants draw around you? Are they elastic or string operated? Or both? How do they cuff at the bottom leg openings? Are they elastic or do they hang open?

LOL, glad i wasn't the only one with that question. Maybe there is a cross-dressing forum somewhere that we could ask? haha I read that the large size would stretch to 44", not sure how accurate that is. I found a pair on ebay for pretty cheap, think i can prolly get them with shipping for under $20... that is unless me and you get in a bidding war over a pair of womens pants.

>:o| Those are mine! I saw them first, don't you dare think about it! Honestly I did notice them too though. Thats what got me thinking about them when I went to go look for a Men's pair on ebay for the 5th time this month and not luck. I know of a place that is selling brand new womens ones for $34.99, but those ones on there look like they are in pretty good condition for under $20. I dont know its a toss up for me. Now that we let everyone on here know about this auction they will probably go for more than $20. Way to go Brian! :)

haha my bad... did I say ebay? I meant umm craigslist? I just got a golite sprectre in brand new condition off of there the other day for $51. Didn't think that was too bad for a gortex paclite jacket that is $275 at retail. Thought i'd get some pants to go with it, but the women ones were the only ones I could find.

Just ordered a pair from econscious.com, but I guarantee you that in the end they probably will say, "Sorry, our inventory showed we had them, but we really did not have them. Our apologies." P.S. Is anyone even familiar with this site? I just rushingly gave them my credit card information. How smart of me not to even investigate matters.

Brian make sure you get free shipping on your order. I was stupid and all rushy rushy on ordering that I did not get the free shipping that is offered to US residents. I do not know how you get it, but supposedly their policy states that it should automatically happen. It will save you an extra $9.99 if that makes a difference to you. It does to me, I called them up and left a message on matters :D

I just found another site that was selling them using this search engine www.find.com Right now I have my money tied up in Amazon, MoutainGearPlace, and Econsciousmarket.com. I am not going to put it yet another order, only to have to talk to a million people over the phone to get my money back from all these places if they dont end up having them. However, if you want to try this place while I deal with the others, perhaps we can communicate our results with each other and find out which route is the best one to go.

Hey so does anyone have any opinons on whether or not Brian and I would be crazy for getting Women's pants in terms of if they'd fit alright or not.

My GF has a pair of Wmns Med Golite Reeds, so I put them on right now and walked around my apartment a bit. They fit me just fine with extra room for some layering and don't look at all odd. There's nothing "womanly" about the pants fit, they're just standard rain pants. FYI I'm 5'7" 140lbs 31" waistline. Hope that helps =]

We shall see if your theory is correct :D I just purchased the last pair of Mediums Womens I could find online at Amazon.com I got $15 off the them with the promotional code that Amazon gave me for waiting so long on the Medium Mens pants that I ordered a month and a half ago. While $54.95 is more than I would have liked to pay for them, it is worth the try. I really want these darn things! Gosh...so many orders now. 2 with amazon, 1 with Esconscious, and 1 with MoutainOutdoorGear. This is getting retarded.

Make that 5 orders! 2 from amazon, 1 from Econscious, 1 from MoutainOutdoorGear, and 1 from Ebay. I hope that at least one of these works out for me and that at least half of them end up getting shipped to me.

P.S. Brian I got the pair off of Ebay that we discussed about earlier. I personally like my pants tight fitted rather than relax where they end up sagging. I know that a relaxed fit would allow me to wear more layers underneath the pants, but I would only wear a pair of long johns under these, so I do not need the extra room. If the pants do not end up working out for me, Ill be glad to sell them to you for the exact price that I paid for them plus shipping. Let me know if I should keep you in mind.

These just got posted up for $40. Thought Id give you a heads up on matters Brian. I don't think I will end up getting them because I already have a Medium on order from Amazon. If you decide not to get them, or if you do and they dont work out for you, keep in mind that the Large ones I won off of Ebay might not be right for me if they are too baggy. Anyways just a friendly heads up. If you happen to see any of the Medium Men's anywhere, defintely keep me posted. Thanks.

What is the price on shipping for these if I order from the UK. I tried doing an order, but it only seems to offer shipping in Europe even though it asks what country I am from and I put United States. Also is this price in Euro's equilvalent to $69.99 in America Dollars?

P.S. Got an email from Econscious.com today giving me 15% off my next purchase. They apologized for not having them. I figured that would happen lol

I don't know. I have no affiliation with the site, just did a google search and they came up. You can write Mr. Richardson at mark@ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk
