New Zealand stove fuel? on 10/30/2009 10:25:15 MDT Print View

Can someone remind me what brand of stove fuel is most readily available in stores around NZ, even in smaller towns, and that would be the nearest equivalent to the MSR IsoPro fuel (an 80/20 blend of isobutane and propane) that I use here in the USA? Do you know if this is available in 8oz/220g canisters?

I'm bringing my MSR WindPro stove over to NZ & obviously can't bring any fuel with me.

Thanks...

Brand doesn't matter. Any screw-thread canister will do.
The 220 g canister is standard.

If you are sticking to the beaten path, you shouldn't have any trouble finding canisters and probably brand choices at that. All the cities and practically all of the outdoorsy/touristy towns will have outdoor shops that sell them.

Kovea is probably the main brand.

Thanks guys. Sounds like a Kovea 70/30 mix might be the most common choice available.

you can get most brand butane/propane cannisters over here, coleman, primus, msr, kovea, jetboil. most of the sports stores have them, even some hardwear stores in the small towns, so it shouldnt be a problem
