I will be in Japan next spring, and have a week free from about 12 March-19 March. Would like to do some hiking--maybe one long trek--camping as much as possible. Lightweight, of course. Any advice?

Will there be trails open that early in the season (and if so, does the weather have a chance of being decent?)

For comparison, my normal hiking area is Pacific Northwest and North Idaho.
