I'm starting a new tent made from silnylon. I would really prefer to not sear the edges if I don't have to. Will a have problem fraying like uncoated's do or am I ok not not sear? Thanks, Jamie
I never sear anything. I have only had one lot of silnylon that frayed at all and that wasn't much. Just do finished edges and everything will be fine.-Tim
For coated nylon (silnylon), searing may not be necessary. But uncoated frays very easily and does much better when seared. I made an alcohol lamp to do this.
