This is by no means an UL pack, but I really like the look of it. I thought I'd post it here in case anyone was interested in this sort of thing.

Has anyone ever tried a Dulth pack? How are they? Aside from heavy... ;)

They're the kind of pack you would have gotten from your grandfather and the kind of pack that you can give to your grandkids, even if you got it from your grandfather.

Heavy 18oz canvas with leather, rivets and buckles, guaranteed for life.

I love mine for canoe tripping, it ties me back to the voyageurs.

I can't speak for this particular pack, but I can say that the Duluth Pack quality can't be beat. I grew up going to the Boundary Water Wilderness and have been in and around the wilderness area probably around a hundred times in my life. Growing up we borrowed my Grandpa's duluth packs to toss in the canoe as we explored the lakes and carried over the portages. These packs are now probably 40 years old and still being used and abused. They are definitely made to last!! Definitely one of my favorite stores to go into in the Duluth area as well if you are ever in the area.

I've always wanted a pack like that, minus the hip belt. I want one for traveling/school/work/etc... They are very durable!

Yeah, as I do more Bushwhacking, I get more interested in stuff like this. I don't think many UL packs handle 'shwacking well.

That wanderer model looks really cool. That's the style I want. Kind of like an Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider type of pack. I think I just might get one...

David, they're awesome. As already said, high quality, "heirloom" kind of pack. Better yet, my friend finds his Duluth portage pack more comfortable than a modern Granite Gear version... I just wish they didn't "ruin" the aesthetic with the nylon webbing, eh?
