I bought some arborist throw lines for use as a bear rope. You can see the specs here.

Diameter= 5/64" (2.0mm)
Tensile Strength = ~1000 lbs
Weight = 1.23oz /50 feet

I have some left overs of both the orange and green line.

I am asking 20 cents a foot and $2.00 shipping in the US. So 50' is $12 shipped.

PM me with any questions, or payment info.

I'd like 50' of the green line.

Let me know how to proceed, Thanks,

Brian

All rope is claimed pending payment.

If people are interested I can order another batch and then split it up. I ordered it from wesspur.com and you can see the prices here.

question on rope on 09/22/2009 10:39:52 MDT Print View

is this a no tangle type of rope?

I am not sure if any rope classifies as no tangle, but I just jammed 50 feet into a small stuff sack and then tried to twist it up and simulate real life.

I was able to pull the rope out and untangle it in about 10 seconds.

I hope that answers your question. I am happy with its resistance to tangles. This might change as the rope gets broken in and isn't as stiff.

How does dynaglide compare to zing-it line?

How does it compare for use as a bear bag line? I have no idea. The specs for the Zing-It are here.

The 1.75mm is a little lighter .96oz vs 1.25oz for Dynaglide. Its breaking strength is less than half. However, if you are hoisting 1000 lbs of food in your bear bag then we need to talk.

I read on some arborist forums and some swear by Zing-It, others by Fling-It and others Dynaglide. It seemed the majority that had tried Zing-It and Dynaglide liked Dynaglide better, but that wasn't a scientific comparison, and it was by arborist that were using it for a different purpose.

1000' roll of zing-it for $125 free shipping.

40' per 25 persons would cost $5 plus $2 shipping = $7 apiece...good price.

If anyone does another group buy, I would be in for 50 feet.

Jonathan-

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but this week was a little crazy.

I was able to send out the lines on Thursday to the three people that paid. I had given my payment info to someone else, but as they haven't paid yet, you are next in line if you are still interested.

I will PM you now with details.
