What are the pro and cons when it comes to these bags. They look interesting even though I could never see myself where this as a coat. Do they offer amble shoulder space? How exactly do they work? I looked at the site but can't keep from cracking up.

Pros-dual funtional, UL, quality craftsmanship, Made in the USA, prompt shipping, reasonable prices, extremely versitile, spot on temp rating, over stuffed baffles, and amazing customer support. When I ordered mine I had many questions that the Jack's were glad to answer. They took the time to ask me about my shelter, temps, sleeping pad, and many other factors in order to put me in the right quilt; I was impressed! They really care about what they do and it shows. Cons- could be lighter Just open the omni tape sealed opening provided and slip your head through. Now you have a warm, down, insulated layer without bringing an extra jacket. My fiance thinks it's pretty comical, but now she wants one. Great quilt and products from a innovative cottage company! You can't go wrong with a JRB! Highly recommended

+1 to the comments above. Also you can do an unbeatable giant turtle impression. I would say that they could be a bit wider at the top for side sleepers. Also I have added a couple of Arc type straps to mine.

I love my No sniveller (NS). As stated before, muli-functional (Underquilt, Poncho, top quilt). Better used as a top quilt in a hammock, and if you using it on the ground, be aware that it's a little more narrow than say a Nunatak Arc Alpinist or Arc Specalist (for a better temp comparson. No a big deal if A, use DIY straps or the full length omitape or B, a skinner guy (which Im nowhere near =). I would advise getting a 1 or 2 oz overfill, not for the extra temp rating, but to keep the down from shifting too much (maybe on earlier models like mine, but not a huge deal).

JRB recently added the High Sierra Sniveller (HSS)to its quilt line....Oriented to the ground dweller it is wider in the body area and has a tapered foot box.... 52 inches wide shoulder thru the hip areas and then tappered to 42 inches, six lacing loops on the upper body end, same wearable features, wider omni tape in head opening for better seal than earlier NS, same lay flat capability and foot box system.... 22 oz for regular...Same price as the No Sniveller.

I have one, it is not as light as say a nunatak, but its still darn light Its cozy in my warbonnet blackbird hammock. recommended in my opinion. I still carry a therawrap jacket in the winter though, too goofy to wear-plus im afraid i will tear it open, jacks recommend not touching it with any surfaces such as ground or trees.

Looks like you guys finally listened to some of us larger sized ground sleepers that a wider quilt would be nice.
I think, I mentioned this about 2 yrs ago, and was sorta blown-off with my comment then, about making your quilts wider.
The Hudson River was my first quilt, and it was apparent from the start that it was just a tad too narrow for me, especially when you add a puffy layer, like a lightweight down jacket.
Then, when I got my first Nunatak, it made me realize even more, that a 48" wide quilt was just a bit too narrow, compared to the Nunatak's 55" width.
In all fairness to JRB, I never got the add on wings, which gives the user extra fabric along sides to tuck under you.
Still a Great product, that is more versatile, for both Hammock and ground sleepers.
The Sierra No Sniveller does have my interest though, Hmm, sell my Epic Arc Specialist for the Sierra N.S. ?
