30D heat sealable taffeta to make an airpad? on 07/29/2009 16:19:14 MDT Print View

Hey everyone, seattle fabrics has a 30D heat sealable nylon and I was thinking it would be fun to try and make an air pad from it (~11-14oz), and even more fun to make a super warm DAM out of it.
Does anyone know how to go about making one of these similar in design to the big agnes aircore (baffled vs. 'sewn thru') and how to keep down from migrating around the tubes. It would also be great to avoid the weird feeling of air moving around the chambers when you move like i have seen in some of the cheap air mats (EMS brand).
Also, are there any easily available valve systems for air pads or any info on how to go about rigging one up? Thanks to Steve Evans and his 6.7oz neoair for the motivation to take up another project that begs the question 'why not just buy one'
