I shouldn't laugh at the hippies but I will.

Considering ti-sheperd's hook stakes weigh like .25oz each, and those combine with a few heavy rocks to hold them down would make your tent pretty wind solid, I don't know why you just wouldn't bring them.

I know you could just use rocks instead of stakes (as I did last weekend setting up my Golite poncho tarp) but I figure stakes serve almost all conditions and I don't have to search for rocks unless extreme conditions warrants.
