I just joined Brooklyn Boulders.

I am so stoked.

I just got done bouldering there. The routes are just fantastic.

Up until now, I've been commuting to New Rochelle two or three times a week and paying ridiculous sums of money to train. This new gym is 10 minutes from my apartment, New Rochelle is two hours one way.

I just felt the need to announce this. No real point.

But, man, I'm excited.

I've wanted to try rock climbing for a couple years now, but I'm afraid of heights. I went snow-camping with a climber last winter and he convinced me to give it an eventual try. Unfortunately, financial circumstances prevented me from joining this place only 5 blocks from where I live(d).

Now that I'll soon be living among the nouveau riche on the Upper West Side, perhaps I'll have to look into Brooklyn Boulders, assuming my newly employed girlfriend gives me a supplemental allowance that allows for that. Even the non-early app fee isn't too bad per month.

Of course, when the find out I want to build an escalator to the top of the wall and a Starbucks for when I get there, they might kick me out.

Dude, how old are you? If you're under 70 you might want to reconsider moving to the UWS. ;)

You should definitely check Brooklyn Boulders out when you move here.
