Curious to know for you MLD Patrol owners, when pitched to the ground for storm protection, how tall is the beak of the ground? How do you 'climb' in? How tough is it?

I bought a used Patrol recently, and I have not needed to pitch it down tight as of yet. Its fairly easy to enter/exit when pitched in normal mode.
I had concerns about condensation, with the front beak and closed rear, but I haven't had any issues, with this.
If I get a chance, I'll set it up in the yard and give you a measurement on the front beak, with it pitched down tight.
I've only been through one or two rain showers with the Patrol, and stayed bone dry, although, there wasn't much, if any wind.

Here's a link below for Pic's of the MLD Patrol, pitched down tight to the ground.
Its more difficult to enter in this set-up, but still fairly easy to enter and exit.
I can't ever see the need to pitch it this low unless one was in a high wind, rain, or snow storm?

Trekking Pole height was set at 40" and Beak height opening was 23" to the ground.

I like it set at a pole height of 42-43", with about a 6" side gap/opening along the sides and the back about 2" above the ground as well. Aids in better ventilation IMHO

No its the MLD Bug bivy, and I just got the SMD Meteor bivy too.

I like them both equally, but the MLD bivy would be better for Hot environments and the Meteor would give you more lower bag rain protection.

The zippers on the Meteor are at ground level, so I could see them becoming dirty and jamming up, over time. This would only be a problem, if you didn't use a ground sheet under the bivy. I always use a GG Polycro sheet under my bivy. The MLD Bug bivy would be great in sandy conditions,as the zipper is on top of the bivy and never comes into contact with the ground.

I never realised there was so much head-room in the 'down to earth' pitch.
I've thought about a Patrol in the past, but thought there was less room.

OK, but your 2nd in line, I already promised it to another, when I go to sell it.

Its in excellent condition as as well. I plan to order another in Cuban fiber, it will be my first piece of Cuban fiber gear, and I hope, I'm not making a mistake in going with this fabric?
I like long term durability in my gear too, not just the lightest gear.

I'm getting one in Cuban fiber, and I hope, I like cuban fiber? Just ordered it, as a matter of fact. (7 weeks and counting?)

I like the Patrol enough so, that I wanted one in Cuban, the total waterproof-ness of cuban was the main factor, followed by weight.

I'll probably get a 8.75" Sq. Silnylon Super-Mid next, and maybe a Cuban Grace Duo tarp, down the road?
