Hi,
I have a VT for carrying heavier loads when my GF goes out with me.
I don’t like the fact the belt doesn’t have hip belt pockets, and I don’t like the GG ones that slide on the hip belt strap because they slide everyewhere.

Has anyone used a different makers belt with any success?
ULA circuit or Six moon designs or?

Is the hip belt on the VT removable (other than by removing the stitching)? Mine looks fairly permanent.

Yes, it is removable. Some of the Granite Gear models have a grommet and screw attachment while others are velcro-only. The VT is the velcro-only variety (at least mine is).

I just received my VT literally at the same time as reading Thomas' question. After quickly scanning the pack it looked sewn-in. But, upon closer inspection I see that you are right. Mine doesn't appear to have velcro or grommet and screw though. It's just threaded through the back and hooked in with the belt straps.

Yes it is removable - I switched mine from a medium to large belt. Too much pasta lately.

I've had several Vapor Trails and none of them had any attachment for the hipbelt. It just fits in a sleeve and the bottom of the backpanel is contoured to fit the belt.

The Granite Gear pockets do not slide if you put them on right. It is kind of tricky...I've taken mine off and had trouble figuring out how to put them back on appropriately. They are solid and have quality water resistant zippers, but I wish they were just a little longer for things like sunglasses.

I think my large hipbelt weighs 10 ounces w/o the pockets attached. With the pockets it would be around 13.4 oz. Don't quote me on this, it's from memory.

I ordered a ULA circut hipbelt and it fits great. The whole belt costs less than the GG pockets.

Anyone know what the ULA Circuit / catlyst belt weighs??
