FS: Outdoor Research Zealot Rain Jacket on 05/19/2009 19:53:09 MDT Print View

Greetings All:

Offered for sale (and my first post on this most interesting and inspiring forum) is a blue OR Zealot rain jacket. Its in near-new condition, as I've only worn it a few times - selling because it doesn't fit. I cut off the size label for some reason I can't remember, but I belive that its a medium. I'm 5'3" and its too big in every dimension, so I think it would fit someone about 5'5" just right. I haven't weighed it but if memory serves its around 7-8 oz. Price is $45 including shipping.

Best regards,

Len Grossman

Glenn - I don't know how to PM - I'll figure it out asap, but in the meanwhile can you just email me at the juno address ?

Matt - I don't know the size since I took off the size label. Its likely a medium, as its simply too big for me and I fit a small fairly well in most brands.

Not to complicate things, but just wanted to weigh in on the Zealot sizing. I have a medium here which I wear and I'm 5'11", 175. Fits me nicely over a baselayer and have even worn it over a thin insulating layer. The length is perfect for me but I'd think the medium would be pretty long for someone 5'5".

Just a suggestion - seller might want to measure the length from shoulder to bottom to give those interested a better idea on size.

Thanks Brad

Back length, not including hood, 28"
Sleve legth, from underarm seam, 25"

Maybe it is a small after all, I don't know...

zealot - i'm 5'5" and have a large on 05/19/2009 20:39:22 MDT Print View

and it fits comfortably for length - but i'm not sure how a rain jacket can be too long

seems to be cut to allow for baselayers or even a sweater or light jacket underneath - a fairly loose cut

i wear a large in most, even when i'm lighter (180 now, but i don't usually wear mediums even when i was about 150 a few years ago)

Zealot - guess its a small now on 05/19/2009 20:44:35 MDT Print View

Thanks Cary - I tried it on again an it must be a small. The problem with the fit is that its too loose, not really too big otherwise. Since I'm pretty slim, that's why it doesnt fit...

Hey Leonard,

I sent you an email in case Glenn and Matt decide they aren't interested.

You can establish the size pretty accurately by weighing it. The zealot matches the spec weight pretty well. If the jacket weighs around 7.7 oz it is likely a large, if it is more like 7oz it is a medium. If it's under 7oz then definitely a small.

Outdoor Research was silly to discontinue this jacket (and the celestial). I've emailed them to let them know that it is "in demand" and they should be making something similar! If anyone else wants to send the message you can contact them through their website.
