Great stuff Michael. What kind of camera setup did you use? Some of those macro shots are very nice.

I use a Canon SD850 Elph. The Elph's are fun little cameras.

Duration, Route, Logistics?

It's on my list so anything would be helpful.

My wife and I spent a week out in Glacier. It was more of a site seeing trip than a backpacking one. We went to Glacier in '03 but half of the park was closed do to wild fires. We spent a couple nights at the Many Glacier Hotel and hiked to Ice Berg Lake. We spend 1 night out the backcountry at Cracker lake which was absolutely beautiful.

We then headed south to Going To The Sun Road and stayed at the Rising Sun campground for the next few days. A few other hikes we did was down to Hidden Lake from Logan's Pass (wish I would have brought a fishing rod) and The Garden Wall to Granite Park Chalet. We also did smaller little hikes to some water falls. I have also done the hike to Otokomi Lake a couple times which is beautiful.

I really like going to Glacier at the end of July and early Aug because the wild flowers are in full bloom. I think next time we will do a 3-4 day trip into the backcountry.

Here is a nice map to reference

This is a whole blog write up of the trip.

Man, '03 was a BAD year for fires out there. Thanks for the photos, they bring back memories of a former home of mine.

I saw your pic of the flower with the waterfall in the background an immediately thought about how much you would love CHDK.

To have everything in focus back to infinity would have made or a sweet shot.

I post a thread about it here:

Your pics are incredible.

How do you get close-ups of flowers without them being blurry? Did you use a tripod?
