I have a 480 gallon hot tub with a 50 amp 240 volt circuit feeding it. It does a great job of increasing my carbon footprint, but an even better job at managing my stress, so there ya go. The heater can increase the temp by about 5-7 degrees per hour depending on the water temp and outside temp. When I drain it and refill it with 55 degree hose water, it takes at least 8 hours to heat back up.

I gotta wonder how long wood would take.

I was just looking through the DutchTub Web site and it looks like 2.5 cubic feet of dry wood are needed to heat the tub which takes on average about 2 hours. It's a neat device but it costs about $6,400.00!

That's cheaper than my hot tub was. ;)

I imagine it would freeze solid in the winter if you didn't keep feeding it more wood.

The Dutch Tub looks awesome for the frontcountry, but I much prefer a dutch oven in the backcountry. ;-) The warmth for the weight is much better.
